Pre Roll Precision: Best Techniques for Cannabis Enthusiasts

Nov 24, 2023

There’s no skill that screams “cannabis pro” quite like knowing how to effortlessly roll perfect joints. If you love the convenience of pre rolls and want to learn how to transform your own supply of flowers into firm, compact pre-rolled joints, read this blog post for some tips to get you started.

Get your pre roll supplies

The most important ingredient in cannabis pre rolls is the cannabis, so go out and get yourself some high-quality flowers of a strain you love. You can browse our selection here or, if you’re not sure what you like, read our post about how to pick the right cannabis strains for your lifestyle.

Make sure you have rolling papers, filters and a grinder on hand. The grind of your cannabis plays a significant role in the burn and overall experience of your pre roll. If you have the means, we recommend investing in a high-quality grinder to get the perfect consistency every time.

Get rolling

Lay your paper on a flat surface. The side with a sticky strip should be facing upwards. Most papers come with a crease down the middle, which is where you should place the weed. But before you do that, put your filter at one of the far ends of the paper. “Filter” is a bit of a misnomer, because the filters in pre-rolled joints don’t actually filter elements out of the smoke the way cigarette filters do. They’re more of a mouthpiece, designed to make the joint easier to hold and smoke.

Once the filter is on there, it’s time to evenly distribute the ground marijuana along the crease of the paper. If you put too little or too much weed on the paper, you’ll make the rolling process more difficult, so we recommend that beginners start with a more standard joint thickness. Pre rolls tend to contain between half a gram and a gram of cannabis.

If you want to give your pre roll an extra THC boost, at this point you can add dabs or a couple drops of liquid extract. Just keep in mind that those products are designed for people who have already built up a tolerance to cannabis’ psychoactive compounds—if you don’t smoke much, the weed alone can provide a pretty intense experience. Read our previous blog post to learn everything you need to know about the different kinds of
cannabis concentrates

Now it’s time to get rolling. Start creating a cylindrical shape by folding over the paper and rolling it back and forth. By doing this, not only are you creating the shape of the joint, but you should also be compressing the cannabis so that it becomes nice and compact. When it’s firm and appropriately shaped, lick the sticky strip and roll the little burrito until it meets the adhesive part and closes. Voilà! You have a homemade cannabis pre roll.

Realistically, though, the first joint you roll will probably look a little pathetic. Just like any skill, preparing pre rolls takes practice. Don’t let frustration get the best of you, keep working at it and you’ll be rolling like Snoop Dogg (or his personal blunt roller) before you know it.

Get smoking

If you’re wondering how to smoke a pre roll, the answer is: just like you would smoke any joint! The main benefit of pre rolls, as opposed to a joint that you have to roll right before smoking, is that you can take them with you wherever you go and not have to bring along all your supplies or worry about finding a flat surface to prepare the blunt. You can just whip out your pre-rolled joint and lighter and you’re ready to go.

We hope this post has been helpful for anyone embarking on the journey of joint rolling. However, if you’re
not interested in rolling your own and you just stumbled upon this article while googling “pre rolls near me,” we also have you covered. You can browse our selection of pre rolls here

With seemingly countless cannabis strains on the market, it’s never been easier to find one that fits (and elevates) your lifestyle. Some people want a pick-me-up sativa strain that sparks their creativity, while others seek out an indica variety that takes them to the next level of relaxation. A quick clarifying note: sativa and indica are both species of cannabis, while the different cannabis strains have been created by humans through selective breeding that increases certain desired characteristics, such as high THC concentration. Plants of the same cannabis species have things in common with each other, but they also have differences based on their strain. Now, without further ado, we present a cannabis strain guide to help you find your perfect weed match (or matches).

Lawmakers say the products should be pulled until they are proven safe. By Mark Huffman 09/23/2019 | ConsumerAffairs | E-cigarette News The anti-vaping drumbeat is getting louder in Washington, as four members of the U.S. Senate have asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to immediately ban the most popular kind of e-cigarette products from the market. The senators -- Dick Durbin (D-IL), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) -- cite the mysterious lung ailments that have been linked to e-cigarette use. In a letter to Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Ned Sharpless, the lawmakers call for the immediate removal of all pod- and cartridge-based e-cigarettes from the market, unless or until they can prove that they benefit the public health. The proposal is a sharp escalation of the steps currently under consideration. The FDA last week launched a criminal investigation into the 530 cases of lung illnesses, including eight deaths. The Trump administration is also reportedly considering a ban on flavored e-cigarette products. Lawmakers fault the FDA In their letter, the senators denounce what they say has been a lack of action from the FDA when it comes to e-cigarette products. “The proliferation of cartridge-based e-cigarettes—and their ever-increasing popularity with children—is primarily due to the FDA’s years-long refusal to regulate any e-cigarette devices or impose common-sense design standards preventing against adulteration, despite having the authority to do so,” they said. “Make no mistake: none of the e-cigarettes, including cartridge-based e-cigarettes, currently on the market have gone through the FDA approval process. They have not demonstrated that they are safe and effective for helping adults quit smoking cigarettes.” The lawmakers point to reports of the increasing use of e-cigarettes by people under the age of 18. They contend that five million children are now vaping, including one in four high school students. In a recent one-year period, 2017 to 2018, the lawmakers say America saw a 78 percent increase in the number of high school students using e-cigarettes and a 48 percent increase in the number of middle school children using the products. The senators draw a distinction between cartridge-based systems and the open tank e-cigarettes that are typically sold in vape shops. They say cartridge-based products are often sold in convenience stores and other outlets where under-age consumers have freer access.
